SCHOOL SPORTS.
HAURAKI PLAINS CHAMPIONSHIP. ARRANGEMENTS ADVANCE. Arrangements for tne Hauraki Plains , Primary schools Athletic Champiqhship sports meeting on March 8 were advanced' a. further stage at a meeting at Ngatea on M'ttuday evening, when Mr C. S. Foster presided over Messrs N. Clay, Kerepee.hi; E. C. Barriball, Ngatea; P. Harold, Netherton; E. Co.wdrey, Kai-, here ; W. E. Hale a.nd D. J. O’Carre 11, Kopuarahi ; and J. E. Porter and E. Keane, Pipiroa. THE PROGRAMME. The main details of the programme were; settled and a committee com-' prising 'Messrs C. S. Foster, E. Cowdrey, and T. H. White was appointed to finalise it after February 20 1 , when all nominations will be in hand. In all there are twenty events, but many may require two or three heats. Following are the main details :— . Boys.—Under 15 years, 880yds, 220yds, and 100yds ; under 13 years, 440yds, 220yds, and 100yds; under 11 years, 150yds and 75yds; under 9 years, 75yds. Girls. —Fifteen years and undter, 100yds and 75yds ; 13 years and under, lO'OyiJs and 50yds; under 11 years, 75yds ; under 9 years, 50yds. There will also be relay races for teams of four boys under 13 years and a similar race for girls. Special events for high school pupils are a 4<4oyds event fqr boys and a 120yds race far girts. The only event that is not running is a high jump for boys of 13 years and under. TROPHIES. The programme committee was empowered to procure the 30-odd medals required for prizes. Mr Foster reported that Mrs W. Benny, of Kaihere, had offered a. r'ose bowl as a trophy. On the motion of Mr Hale it was decided to thank Mrs Benny for her offer and tq suggest that the bowl be a second points prize for annual competition among schools. The secretary reported that the Mangatarata School Committee had promised a medal. In view of the fact that the committee propose 1 securing gold medals of the same; design and coist for all first prizes and silver medals for all second prizes, it was decided to thank the donor and suggest that the cost be remitted to the general fund so that a medal similar to the others could- be obtained. DUTIES DETAILED. ' The fqllowing officials were appointed:— Starters: ; Messrs E. C. Ba,rriball and L Jamfes. Judges : Messrs L. 'McIndoe and W. E. Hale ; Tape Stewards /Messrs D. J. O’Carroll and T. H. White ; Results Steward : Mr W. P. Wylde. Call Stewards: Messrs E. Cowdrey and P. Ha,rold; Assistant. Secretary: Mr W. Chappell. Gatekeepers : Messrs S. Phillips, G. T. Davidson, and W' Taylor. Protest Committee: One starter, one judge, and Mi’ H. Dent. Timekeeper : Mr A. Cameron.
