A SOUND SUGGESTION.

INSTRUCTION IN SWDfMING. SCHOOL PHYSICAL EXERCISES. What appears, to be a very useful, and practical suggestion has. been made by Mr J. E. Reid, president of the Ngatea Swimming Club, and who has had! a great deal- to do with the instruction of young children‘in the art of swimming;. Mr Reid suggests, that the correct arm movements for .swimming should be taught all schoolchildren as part of the regular physical exercises. If accustomed by this means to the correct arm action, no.n-£jwimmers would more readily learn and swimmers ■would improve their style, while; possibly non-swimmerja, would apply what they had learned at school, should ever the emergency arise and they be in danger of drowning. The arm movements are the most important in swimming.

Thq suggestion will be put to the school authorities after the holidays.'
