SOME INTERESTING FIGURES. PARTICULARS FROM YEAR BOOK. At the census of 1027 there were 686,384 malets in New Zealand and 6'58,085 females, there being 959 females to every ICOO males. These figures do not include t'he Maori! population. For the yqar ended March 31, 1928, the, total population cif New Zealand was 1,443,323.
The North Island carries. 61.87 of the Dominion’s population and the South Island 38.13. In 1886 the; North Island figures were 43.30' and the South Island figures 56.70. The population of the following towns in the Auckland province is : Pukekohe 2440, Te Kuiti 2460, Cambriid'gle 2030, Te Awamutu 1700, Taumarunui 2450, Morrinsville 1595, Tq Aroha 2390, Paeroa 1860, Taur.anga 2660, Rotorua 4830, and Ngaruawahia 1225.
Town districts not forming parts, of counties include: Papatoetoe 1875, Manurewa 1455, Papakura 1745, Waiuku 840, Tuakau 65'5, Huntly 1735, Leamington 560, Otorohanga 610. Manttnui 900, Putaruru 790, Te Puke 980, .Matamata 1050.
Town districts forming parts of counties include : Mercier, 360, Raglan 320, Ohaupo 240, Kihikihi 315, and Kawlhia 220.
Arapuhi’s population appears as 845, but at date the number is very much less. Coromandel has 619, Kakahi 591,' Matangi 554, Nethertofa. 550, Ngatea. 522, Ongar.ue 577, Pukemiro 695, Tirau 550, Waharoa 584, Waihou 787, Waitoa 592, and Waikino 681.
The population of local counties, including boroughs within the boundaries, is : Piako. 11,885, Ohinemuri 8305, Hauraki Plains 4290, Thames 7300' Raglan 7655, Waikato 28,080, Waipa 13,670, Otorohanga 4570, Kawhia 1880', Waitomo 92'50, and Taumar.unui 5370.
