THE MONTH’S PROGRESS. COMMITTEE’S REPORT. The Works Committee report on operations during the; month .as follows to last night’s meeting of the Paerpu Borough Council: — MAINTENANCE. “The usual and meat urgent main-: tehance has. been -carrjed 'Out during, the past month, and kerbing has been laid on the; southern approach to the OSiinemuri River bridge, which is also being fenced, part of this being done by the Public Wor.ks Department and! part by the council. MAIN HIGHWAYS. “Whenever wqather has permitted, the sealing work has been proceeded with, but rain is seriously hampering progress and materially adding to the cost of the; work. Every opportunity will be taken to push the work to 1 a conclusicin. WATER RETICULATION. “The 4-inch main extension has been laid in Wcpd Street to Nahum Street and a 2-inch. main put d6wn in Nahum Street. Material for Rye Lane has been ordered from England and is. due to arrive in about one month’s time. SEPTIC TANK. “Progress is now definitely ' be;ing made with this work. Alterations to the tank itself are completed. The concrete manholes for pumps and foundations are also finished, and ejection of. the pump-house is well in hand. The .two pumps are now on the job, and they will shortly bq installed.”
