BURNED BY ACID.
ACCIDENT IN GORE HOfitPHTAL. WOMAN DOCTOR’S DEATH. GORE, January 12. Tragic, circumstances surrounded the death of Dr. A. M’athiesion, resident woman medical officer of th® Gore Hospital, who died to-day. Just after, 11 o’clock this morning Dr. MathiesoiY was working with carbolic ac.id, when the bottle was smashed. The acid splashed over her body and face; and immediately began its; deadly work. She also suffered severely from shock, and in a short while became unconscious.
Dr. Lillie was immediately called in and resuscitation efforts were carried out. These efforts were of no avail, and Dr. Mathiepon slowly sank, and died about two. o’clock this afternoon.
Dr. Mathies’on came to the Gor.e Hospital from Dunediln some four or five months, ago, and was a very popular and efficient officer.
