CRIME IN PAEROA.
DISTRICT’S RECORD. LESS NUMBER. OF ARRESTS. It is to be appreciated that the conduct of. the people of Paeroa and district is always of an exemplary nature, and that serious crfcninal cases within the district are few ami far between. Again last year Paeroa's esputcheon had very few bad marks placed upon it, as shown by the following records fr.ojn ithe local courthouse, with 1927 figures iln parentheses :—
Number of arrests, 62 (96) ; number of charges aganist persons arrested, 106 (61) ; committal warrants, 6 (11) ; plaints issued, 266 (211) ; distress warrants, 8 (9) ; judgment sum-; mouses issued locally, 36 (70) ; amount collected in fines, £l2O 13s 6dl (£ll9 3s) ; fees paid in stamps, £220 10s 6d (£243 lis).
