DISTRICT NEWS.
NGATEA. HALL SOCIETY. The committee of the Ngatea Public Hall Society met last evening, Mr W. G. Hayward presiding over, Messrs E. c. Barriball, S. Phillips, and S. Tarver (secretary). On the motion of Mr Tarver, Mr G. Phillips was appointed a member of the committee, in place Of Mr W. J. Clare, resigned.
The financial statement fqr the month of November showed 1 receipts from all sources, including a proportion of the annual rents, totalling £26 3s 4d, and expenditure, including the proportion of the ..annual charges, totalling £l6 19s 4'd. The bank overdraft was £124 18s, cash in hand £2 15s, and sums due £22 3s, whilst accounts due for payment totalled £l5 14s sd.
Only one tender was received for the lease Of the stall for next year, and the offer qf G. and R. Hastings of 12s 6d a week was accepted;
The secretary reported! that a contract had been let for the piping of the roadside drain on the ha]l frontage. The work was to be completed by January 31, 1928. The deed of indemnity between the society and the Hauraki Plains County Council concerning the Ngatea township street lights was signed and sealed; It was agreed to ascertain the present liability to the power Board. Barriball and S-tPhiliips were appointed a committee, with power to add to their number, for the purpose of organising functions to raise funds for the lights.
