The fire was extinguished with water and mud. and when the ca,r was recovered yesterday aftcrnccp it was found that beyond a broken radiator, broken lamp glasses, and. slight dents in the fenders, the only damage was burnt ignition wires.

Some very handsome hand-carved furniture, made froim teak taken from the old battle c.ruiser Ne\v Zealand, has been installed in the memorial hall of the Wa.’taki Boys’ High School, at Oamaru. This was obtained through the agency of Earl Jellieoe, whose interest in this school has always been maintained since he left New Zealand.
