THE MAORI ELECTIONS.
RESULTS OF THE POLLING. THREE OLD MEMBERS. The election of Maori members of Parliament tqok place, yesterday. Members cf the late Parliament who we:e again returned were Sir Maui Pomare (Western Maori), Sir Apirpna Ngata (Eastern Maori), and Tau Hen Ore (Northern Maori). In. the Southern Maori electorate a change has taken place, H. W. Uru (Government), who had a seat in the last Parliament, being third on the poll. At present Tuiti Makitanaja (United) leads by ope vote from E. T. Tirikatenc (Ratana). Details of the voting are as follows :—
NORTHERN MAORI. Tau Henare (G) 2486 Para ire Paikea (Ratana) .. 1606 H.' K. Waiaua (Waitangi) 476 Hone Heke (I.G0 208 R. Wi Hongi (Waitangi) .. 192 Tamaho Maika (U.) 189 L. w. Pajore (I.) 9 Majority for Henare 880 EASTERN MAORI. Sir Apirana Ngjata (U.) .. 4507 P. T. T. Mo kb (I.) 1614 T. P. Stewart (L.) 210 Majority for Ngata 2893 There are five returns to copie. WESTERN MAORI. Sir Maui Pomare (G.) .... 4542 H. T. Ratana (Ratana) .. 2.982 Majority for Pomare 1560 Thej - e are six returns to come. SOUTHERN MAORI. Tuiti Makitanara (U.) .... 198 E. t. Tirikatene (Ratana) .. 197 H. W. Uru (G.) 162 J. C. T. Tikao (G.) 107 P. H. MacDonald (L.) 79 W. T. Pitama (I.) 42 T. M. Erihana (I.) 33 Majority for Makitanara 1
