MATCH ABANDONED.
The competition match Paeroa v. Te Aroha, which was set down to be played at Paeroa on Saturday last, ws not The visiting team went in to bat, but owing to the heavy rain the proceedings we r e stopped when Te Aroha had lost four wickets for. 56 runs.
PRIMARY SCHOOL COMPETITION.
WIN FOR PAEROA A AND B TEAMS.
The primary school cricket competition for the Malcolm Shield was commenced on Saturday, the Paeroa A team visiting Hikutaia arjd the Karangahake eleven, meeting the Paeroa B team on the local domain. In the match at Hikutaia Paeroa won the toss and Arnold sent the; home team in, to; be dismissed for 19 runs. Arnold took six wickets for 2 runs and Shanid four for 10.
Paeroa knocked up 50 runs for six wickets and then declared (Arnold) 15, Chester 13 not out, Southby 10). In the second innings Hikutaia made 41 (G. Avery 11), Arnold taking four wickets for 4 runs and Shanjd six for 16.
Paeroa had 11 runs to make, and compiled 18 for four wickets (Arnold 10 pot out). Avery and Coxhead bowled well for Hikutaia. In the match at Paeroa the Karangahake team was dismissed for 41, Bardsley taking five wickets fqr 5 runs. The Paeroa B. team declared after making 82 for- Tour, wickets (Curtis, 48 not out).
