MATCH AGAINST MORRINSVILLE.

ANOTHER WIN FOR PAEROA.

On Saturday the Paeroa cricket team continued its sequence of victories in the Piako Association s competition by soundly defeating the Morrinsville eleven by eight wickets and 9 runs. This match was expected to be the hardest of the but the excellent batting, of Knight and Stack made all the difference. Morrinsville went in first and knocked up a total of 122 runs, the chief being Jones (47), Wilkes (22), Kerr (17), and Hawkins 15 not ouft).

PaeroA then went in, opening with Stack and Dale. The latter was dismissed for 12, and Taylor, contributed ope run before he also succumbed to McPherson. Knight jqined Stack, and they played out time, Knight registering 51 and Stack 4’6. The scone at the close of the innings was 131 for two wickets.

Knight had one life when he sent up a catch which /was dropped, but Stack batted steadily and gave no chances. Knight was also qonspicuqus ip his fielding, one of his catches in particular bringing forth ajpplause, when he took a difficult onfe-handed catch of a ball that was falling behind him. On Saturday the Paeroa and Karangahake; primiary school teams met, and the result was a win for Paeroa,

by eight wickets and 13 runs. ;Karangahake scored 32 runs, Hardman being top scprer with 8. Arnold took four wickets for 13, and Curtis threefor. 13. Paeroa compiled 45 for two wickets, the principal batsmen bein,g Bardsley (22) and Arnold (17 not out). The Malcolm Shield matches will be commenced this week.
