o —___ POSITION OF OHINEMURI. DEFUNCT AFTER NEXT MARCH. In reply to an inquiry by the Mayor u? Waihi, through Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., about the status of the Ohinemuri a.nd Thame,s licensing commits tees after the general election in November, the Minister, of Justice 'states that, the rec,ent alteration of boundaries, will make no difference in the election fop the Thames Licensing Committee, which will be held in the ordinary course in March 'next year, tlhe n;ew district, automatically becom-. ing the electorate for which that committee is chosen. The committee will be eilected by tfie whole T,homes' district, which now incluudes Ohinemuri, there being no provision in the Act fof proportionate representation in the various principal districts, of thc| electorate, such Ito Waihi, Thames, and Paeroa. The popitjon, theref'we, is that the Ohinemuri .Licensing Committee will function until the election in March and then become defunct.
