Ngatea is not to have its; street lights restored yet. awhile, as .the Thames Valley Electric Power Board has decline,d to recognise the Ngatea Public Hall SQciet.y and insists thqt the acc.ount for power and maintenance be guaranteed by tha Hauraki Plains, County Council, as is> done in respect, of the Kerepeehi tojwiiship lights. This, comunication; was considered by the Hall Committee on Wednesday evening, and it was decided to ask the County Cejunc.il to guarantee the Power Board on the strength of a guarantee from it to th e council. As thqre is. still a liability of £l3odd for. power consumed before the lights were cut off, ajnd as/ the Hall Sqciety declines to meet this out of its funds and -has -not taken) any ateps to organise a function for the purpose, it is evident, that tiie townqhip will 'have to remain -unlighted for a month or so.
