PIPIROA. CHURCH DANCE. A function remiuscent of the old time Pipiroa dances eventuated last Wednesday evening when $ dance anil progressive euchre tourament, organised to. raise funds for ithe work of ,thq Church of England, attracted a very large number of dancers, fro.m all parts of the Plains and also' from Thames. The Pipiroa. hall was c.omfortably filled despite the wild weather and the failure of the electric power in the early evening. Mr A. Christie was. M.C., and the music was (supplied by a Ngatea orchestra comprising Mis- Birkenhead, Messrs. SCoppins, M‘ Martin, and AFirst and second prizes were awarded the winners of the euchre tournament, Mesdames Bowde,pi .pjnd Gubb, c-f Thames, and C. Clark, of Waitakaruru, and Constance, of Thames, being .the successful players. The spot waltz was won by Mrs Ganley and Mr W. Knox, of Pipiroa, and the Monte Carlo by a[ Thames pair. TURUA. TENNIS CLUB’S FUNCTION. For the purpose of raising fundf> ter a. volleying board the Turua Tennis Club held a “Frolic” in the Turua Buildings last Wedn(esd.ay evening, there being over 40 present despite the adverse weather. Dancing, games, vocal items and competitions served to pajss a very pleasant evening.
