PLAINS BOWLING CLUB.

THE KEREPEW PKOI’OSAL. FAVOURABLE DECISION MADE. Sixtee.n Kerepeehi men attended. a meeting at the residence of Mr J. Murdock which had been convened by Mr R. Carr to consider the formaticjn of a bowling club. Mr J. McLaren was appointed t<?i preside. He explained that the idea was to form a club for the whole of the Hauraki Plains'. Carr pointed out that Kerepeehi was the best place o ( n the Plains for the laying 'of a green, as the) fOuhidations were good. He had interviewed Mr. A. J. Innis relative to securing two %-aere sections near the tennis courts. The purchase price was .’.‘150, or a lease with right of purchase could be secured'. Mr McLaren said that half .ajn acre was not sufficient for a full-Sizedl bowling green an-d a croquet lawn. He had looked at the site, and was of opinion that, it would be, quite suitable. It was desirable to 'have: a croquet lawn near the bowling green. Experience had shqwn that coarse scoria foundations were undesirable, and in his opinion a green could be: macle: for £250 or very little more. Mr Murdock expre-.|6ed the opinion that £5OO would be nearer the mafk, as considerable fencing would be nec.essary on account 'of the exposed position, and a water supply would be required. Mr Carr moved that a bowling, club be formed in Kerepeehi, to be known as the Hauraki Plains Bowling Club. Seconded by Mr Murdock and carried unanimously. Mr H. M. Thompson moved that a committee be appointed tn interview Mr A. H. Innis, and a<ny others who. had sections, of land suitable for a green. The committee appointed! comprised Mejssrs R. Carr, J. M. Thompson, J. McLaren, P. Pearson, J. Murdock, Clifford, and D. Shiltoh. Subsequently Mr J. W. McLaren was appointed chairman and Mr J. Smith secretary.
