GIRL GUIDES.
DR. TURKINGTON VISITS PAEROA. INSPECTION OF LOCAL COMPANY. Dr. Turkington, Provincial Commissioner of Auckland, paid a. visit to Pa.eroa qu Monday evening and 1 inspected the local company of Guides. She pa*'d a high tribute to the officers and the good standard of thie girls, and her ‘pow-wow” talk on ‘‘Guiding” was interesting and beneficial to the Guides. Tire Company gave demonstrations in; marching, Morse signally, and games, and some recitations and piano, items also were givien. Dr.. Tarkington was particularly pleased to hear of the Guides who had passed tlie St. 'John’s Ambulance examination. She also spoke kindly apd encouragingly to the two little Guides who rendered first-aid when ,their, sister Guide broke her arm up in the bush.
After a lieanty handshake a.ll round, and cheers, tlie company was dismissed. Then, ovier a cup of tea and cakes, Dr. Turkingtoii, talked with thE committee and advised the- forming of a Iqcal association for the district. Now that Waihi had a coinpany it would be helpful and another link in the chain of Guiding.
