In connection with three cases admitted to the Wabhi Hospital, Mr Brenan stated that, one 'he knew of was not an urgent ca.se. The chairman 'said that there were three cases of which there was no proof of urgency. The position was that liability would only be accepted on the board’s re-solution. Mr Lange suggested that liability be accepted in two cases, but not in the case of a man who was'injure ! in an accident at Paeroa. Mr, Brenan said that the only logical thing to do was to decline liability in all three cases. Mr. Flett contended that the onus was on the medical superintendent, who was the better judge of what .w-is urgent.

The chairman agreed that .the local medical superintendent was the judge, more so than the board members. reiterated that the only thing t® do was to decline liability. From a financial point of view, and leaving out all suggestion of sentiment, he woflld prove in that direction. Seconded' by Mr Lange. ' The chairman said he was doubtful if the bo.ard cowkl reasonably decline. However, he would put the resolution. The resolution wps carried, Mr K.em ue'dy dissenting. BOARD’S COTTAGE. Attention was drawn by Mr Brenan to the dilapidated state of the board’s cottage at Paeroa. The.building. he said, had been erected years ago, and was now in a state of disrepair. It was for the board to, say if. the building was to fall do,wn. There would probably' be a surplus in the Paeroa hospital fund which would be sufficient to renovate the cottage. The matter was referred to the chair-ina.n and Mr Brenan f°r a report.
