According to the Financial Statement, the total State expenditure for reading purposes in the Dominion increased from £700.000 in 1923 to £1,915,000 in 1928. The sum of £1.000,000 in debt charges has been saved annually through the Government’s policy of using surplus revenues Tor capital charges and debt rh-payment.
