POWER BOARDS.
BUSINESS AT CONFERENCE. REMITS DEALT WITH. In connection with the business done* at .the Power Boards’, Conference, Messrs F, M. Strange (chairman). J. Price (deputy-chairman), N. G. McLeod (engineer), and R. Sprague (manager), who were-the Thames Valley Boards delegates to thp confers ency, reported that the following remits were dealt with a,t the sitting; in Wellington on July 25 and 26 : — Qualification 'of member to stand over for next year. Depreciation : Tha.t same does not operate until the seventh year after commencement of supply.—Carried. That tlie rate of depreciation be based on 4’o years for concrete poles and 30 years for steel towers. —Carried.
Advandess to Consumers: That the mortgagor’s oi mortgagee’s consent be not necessa.ry In order to make the installation a charge upon the land. —Carried.
Recovery of Accounts: That the period for the recovery of accounts be altered to three years after the last payment falls due. —Carried. Security for Advances : That the Act bte, amended so that the charge on land should apply to Crown leaseholds.—Carried. • That, the Chattels Transfer Act, 1924, shall extend and apply to chattels under a customary hire purchase .agreement fix : ed or attached to land of the Crown and the removal of same from such land.—Carried. Guaranteed Lines : That the regulation be amended to a permanent guarantee not exceeding 12% per cent., in lieu of the present regulations limiting the period to five years.—Carried. Charges for Current. That, the present charges fop electricity from the department be amended. —Carried;. Government Profits : That the Government be asked for their policy as to ,the apportionment of the profits from their electrical undertakings.—
Carried. That the Government be urged to expedite the linking up of the Arapuni and Waikaremoana schemes. — Carried. Cutting x of Trees Endangering Lines : This remit was; forwarded by your board and was carried. Fencing Act:. That the Act be amended, adding a. two-chain distance and ,t'he consent of the local authorities and Government Departments for the planting of high-growing 'hiedges.—This remit was forwarded by your board but was not carried. The matter of a central office ahi information officer was referred to the executive to report ,a,t the next
conference. That, legislation, be obtained authorising 'the payment of subscriptions and delegates’ expenses to the conference.—Carried.
The remit authorising boards to raise a ‘loan by Special Order with the Minister’s consent was carried. That investments be extended to include all authorised, trustee investments.—Carried. That the maximum amount of honorariam to be paid by power boards shall be £5OO per annum, and the amount in all cases to be fixed by a majority of the. board.
