DISTRICT NEWS.
NGATEA. CHAR’TY DANCE. A dance, promoted by Mr S. Tarver t.o raise funds for, assisting Sister Esther’s work, was held in the Ngatea Hall on .Wednesday evening. There w'as a good attendance, and as there were no expenses whatever, almost £lO was raised. The liall was given free, Mayne’s Orchestra provided excellent music free of charge, prizes were donated by Mrs Cornthwait?, Mrs Manktelow. Miss L. C. Ellis, and Mr J. Terrill, and the supper contributions were organised by Mrs S. Coppins.
Mr J. Neats acted as M.C. in his usual capable maimer, and after supper auctioned the cakes which had not been, required.
The euchre teurnament: prizes were won by Mrs A. R. Vowlcs and Mr ViWylde,, while Miss Peet and Mr G. I’liillip.s we're awarded the consolation prizes. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs Beitelsen and Mr C. Molloy.
The piano which the Ngatea Public Hall Society has acquired to replacethe instrument which did duty for ■many years was used for the first time and evoked favourable comment.
