PAEROA RUGBY UNION. meeting of COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union ’hel.fi> its weekly meeting on Monday night', the chairman (Mr W. P. Pennell) presiding over Father Taylor and Messrs, E. P. Fathers, M. Crospy, and E. Edwards. REGISTRATIONS. The East Club forwarded the names of senior an ; d two junior players . and asked that they be registered. — Agreed to. MATCH WITH THAMES. The West Club wrote advising, that of Thames, junior footballers (was desirous of piaying a match at Paeroa on Saturday next. The West and East clubs were prepared to put - a combined team in the field in the event of it not being possible to strange a B representative! team. Father Taylor said that an effort should lie made to arrange the match, aii;d on his motion it was resolved to select a B representative team to play on the No. 2 ground:. TEAM OF MAORIS. / A list of nineteen names of. Maoris was submitted for registration and permiss on to - enter for the. junior knock-out competition. After perusing the list the names, were reduced to 16 and those- players duly registered and permission was granted. fixtures. It was moved by Mr Crosby that ♦the Wert -arid Suburbs seniors play the final game at paeroa on Saturday. Mr W. welch (delegate) said that it would be a hard matter for Suburbs to field a team on Saturday, and he b requested that the original draw, Suburbs v. Pirates, be- adhered 1 to. After some discussion Mn Crosby withdrew his resolution and the draw was agreed to,. namely, Suburbs v. Pirates and East v. West. TAURANGA. trip. The chairman said he anticipated that the triip to Tauranga would resuit in a loss to the- union of approximately £3. Attention was drawn by Father Taylor to a statement made by the president of the Tauranga. Union that a letter had been forwarded to the local ' union early last we-ek giving full dedetails of the arrangements made for. . the teams z at Tauranga. It came as ‘ a great surprise to find o.n arrival that the senior team was required to play at 2 p.m. Th e . arrangement was most unfair to the senior team, and he moved* that a letter of- protest at the lack of infonhation be sent to the „ Tauranga Union. PERIOD OF PLAY. 'He contended , that under the. rules they were n.ot Y allowed to. The chariman agreed; but pointed out that it had been only a friendly game, and in order to meet -the wishes of the Tauranga Union the four 15-minutb spoils had been agreed upon, so as* to enable the other/ matches to be played. Father Taylor contended that, . friendly or competition, match, the rules should have beeii adhered to. The chairman said that, nothing We gained by protesting at teat juncture. Father Taylor sa’d he was not sug- ’ gesting that a formal protest should be lodged, but pointing out that it was useless playing Rugby if the rules to be ignored at will. Strictly Jpeaking. the match had not been a proper game- of Rugby under the - rules. MATCH AT HIKUTAIA.’. In -asking for another match at Hikutaia before the season closed Mr .Welch said that the Suburbs teams were finding it very expensive to do so much travelling, as also were the Hikutaia supporters, who were; entitled to consideration. The way the draw had been arranged the Suburbs teams had done a lot of travelling. After some discussion it was resolved, on the motion of Father Taylor, to leave the matter in tie hands of ' the chairman and secretary, with a view to bringing, about an adjustment the remaining flxtujrieft if possible. ' - J ' BENEFIT MATCH. Father Taylor said it seemed strange that the union had done nothing in rfegard to the; H. Robinson benefit, and he, thought that a Saturday should be set as-Klfe. as early as possible as a Robinson benefit Saturday. , After some discussion the matter was left in the hands of the chairman. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £l4 5s were passed l for payment.
