HOSPITAL AND HOMES.
THE THAMES INSTITUTIONS. REPORTS FOR JUNE. The following reports for* the month of June were submitted to a meeting of the Thames Hospita.l Board, on Monday:— SURGEON’S REPORT. The medical superintendent, Dr. W. Sowerby, reported that 47 males and 58 females had been admitted, fluripg the m'onth, and 28 males and 49 females, had been discharged, leaving 42 males a,nd 37 females remaining, at date. In the 'out-patients department ten cases had been treated, involving 41 attendances. Thr.ee males and. one female had died, and fifty-six operations tad been performed. The month had been an exceptionally busy one in all departments, the highest number, of beds being occupied on any one day being 85. MATRON’S REPORT. The matron, Miss K. M. Aniseune, reported on staff and domestic matters .and. Sjtated that in the maternity annexe there had been 12 births, and six .mothers and four babies; were remaining at d!ate. ENQINEER’S REPORT. The engineer, Mr A- M. Somerville, reported that the coal consumption for the . month was 47 tons 14cwt Steam for heating had been in use i|i all parts 0f the institution during the month, and two shiftei were being worked in the engine-room. The steam laundry had been used daily during the month. PATETONGA DISTRICT. The Patetonga district nurse, Miss M. McLeod, reported having treated six patientjs during the month. The fees collected amounted to £3 17s 9dout of a total of £4 10s. Several members expressed hearty approval of tihe efforts 'of Miss McLeod to collect fees. The chairman said that Miss McLeod had done well, and it would be necessary for the secretary to assist the nurse and help her in every way to s&nd out accounts and collect outstanding fees. In the main the people of Patetonga were willing to pay the small fees as. scheduled by the board. TARARU HOMES. TW r superintendent of the District Honte, Tarar.u, Mr J- Appleby, reported that there were 15 male and two female inmates at the homes at date. One male had been admitted and one discharged. The farm and garden were in good ordter. and condition considering the season. On behalf of the homes committee Mr Parfitt reported that there had been spine friction between the cook and the housekeeper, with the result that the cook’s resignation was accepted.
