HERD TESTING.

HAURAKI PLAINS GROUPS. RETURNS FOR MAY. The following returns from the Hauraki Plains groups for the month of May have been supplied by the N.Z. Co-operative Herd Testing Associa. tion, Hamilton :—

Nether.ton. —The highest herd, .with 19 cows, averaged 20.081 b fa,t, and the lowest herd', with 34 cows, averaged 11.731 b fat. The highest cow in the croup produced 331 b fat and the lowest cow 2-3Ub.

Ngatea.— The highest herd, with 60 cows, .averaged 19.091 b fat, and the lowest herd, with 43 _cows, averaged 11.591 b fat. The highest cow in the group produced 42.841 b fat* and the ■lowest cow 2.221 b. Pateton&a. — The higheest herd, with 21 cows;, averaged 23.661 b fat, and the lowest, herd, with 29 cows, averaged 10.741 b fat. The highest cow in the group produced 49.561 b fat and the lowest cow 2.461 b.

Shelly Beach.—The highest herd, with 15 cows, averaged 21.031 b fat, and the lowest herd, with 28 cows, averaged 10.341 b fat. The -highest cow produced 36.851 b fat and the lowest cow 2.401 b.

Turua,—The highest herd, with 52 cows, averaged 211 b £>t, and the low. est herd, with 31 cows, averaged 11.58 lb fat. The highest cow in the group produced 36.661 b fat and the lowest cow 2.40'1b. Wajtakaruru.—The highest herd, with cows, averaged 22.491 b fat, and the lowest herd, with 20 cows, averaged 7.421 b. fat. The highest cow in- the group produced 49.411 b fat and the lowest cow 1.141 b. The average for 36,232 cows tested in May was 2321 b milk, 5.3 test, and 17.651 b fat. All the foregoing records; ar© for a full 30-d'ay period, and this season represents the production of all cows in milk.
