FIGURES FOR JUNE I . AVERAGE FALL FOR MONTH.

From meteorological figures supplied by the Paeroa office of the Public Works Department it is shown that rain fell on 18 days locally during June, the Heaviest fall being on the 28th, wlieji .67 of ,an inch fell. The wettest week was the period from June 14 to 21, .when 1.49 inches were - recorded. The total rainfall for the month was 3.90 inches, which, although about an average for the month of June, was .97 of aji nch in excess of the fall for, the corresponding month last year. The rainfall for the first six months of this year showh a decided increase bn 1927. The total to date is 28.67 inches, which is 6.17 inches more than for the six months in 1927. ’ The barometer during, last month averaged 30.05 inches, the highest reading, 30.36, occurring on June 7, and the lowest reading, 29.60, oh June 19. The thermometer averaged 50 degreefg during the* month, the highest temperature; 59 degrees, being registered on June 18 and the lowest, 40 1 <degrees, on June 4. HAUBAJKI PLAINS, FIGURES. LOW RECORDS FOR JUNE. The rainfall .for June as recorded at the .Lands Drainage Department’s office .at Kerepeehi, totalled 2.87 inches, which is 1.44 inches below the average for the previous fifteen Junes. RM fell on 14 days during the month, andj the heaviest fall was in the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. on the 28tli, when .75 of an inch was recorded. The total for the half year, is 17,90 inches, which is 3.76 inches below the average for the first half of the last fifteen years. Only on four occasions since 1913 has the half-year’s’ total been less than that of this year. The number, of days on which rain was recorded in the last six months was '52. while the average for the same period in the previous four years was 78 days, or. 50 per, cent, more than this year.
