OPERATIONS IN JUNE. REPORTS TO BOARD. At yesterday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Eectric Power Board the following were read: — ’ ’ MANAGER’S REPORT. . . Trees. —Steps are now being taken? for the remove! of all trees endangering the board’s lines, and if, aft-er the necessary notification has been-served on. the owner for. the removal, the owner or occupier does not act, it is our intention to remove same. If the trees endangering the board’s lines hafi been removed the interruptions experienced during the past year would have been reduced to a minimum. “Remits.—The.remits to be considered at the Power Boards’ Conference, to be held at Wellington, during the month, are before you this day. “Supply to Dairy Factories.— Supply to all factories under the threeparty agreement is now being given, including the Waitoa dried milk factory. “Attaching of Land. —An action for attaching the land in the Te Aroha Magistrate’s Court, under, sections 118 and 119 of the Electric Power Boards’ Act, 1925, was heard during the month, judgment being reserved. “South Auckland Power Boards’ League The South Auckland Power. Boards’ League was revived during the month at Hamilton, Mr F. M. Strange being elected chairman for the year. Remits for. the conference were discussed. “Consumers. —The totaj number of consumers connected to th© board’s mains totals 6660, which number, includes the Thanks and Te Aroha boroughs, Thames consumers numbering 1074 .and Te Aroha 640. During the month 34’ lighting and heating consumers, 13 water-heaters, 7 electric ranges, and 4 motors on far As—one of which was a, 2 h.p. milking motor — were also connected. There are now connected and operating 1408 waterheaters and 236 electric ranges, and the total number of motors connected and running bn farms is 2001, of which 1700 are 2-h.p. milking motors, tn addition, 24 consumers ha,d lighting and heating additions made during the month, and one % h.p., one 2 h.p., one 3 h.p., .and one 7% h.p. motors were connected on meterr ates.” ENGINEER’S REPORT. The engineer’s report included the following:— “Kerepeehi.—A double circuit 11,-000-volt 7.08 Hift was run. a distance of 15 chains on the existing pole line in connection with the distribution of feeders from the new sub-station. The board’s portion of this sub-station was put into Commission on May 20, four feeders being independently protected. The incoming supply is being taken through one of the board’s panels until such time as the Public Works. Department’s section completed, which the department expects to do within three .weeks. The benefit derived by the’ sectionalising of th© board’s system by medium of this sub-station has already been most markedl

“Cadman’s Road and Tirohia. —A new switch was erected at Tirohia and ,a telephone hut installed during May, when the cut in the line across Cadman’s Swamp was reconnected. “Thames Road'. —A new transformer station was erected in May at Quinifs, at the corner of Bond’s Road, to take care of the increased loading. Supply has been, considerably improved on this section by this new transformer.

“A ,15-chain low tension extension was run on the existing high tension pole line to supply a . new milking plant. - . “Paeroa Railway.—A short extension was made from the west end of Station Road to give supply for the new railway inter-locking and signalling system,, and the low tension mains at Hill Street crossing were altered to clear the foot of the bridge recently erected by the department. “Pole Section. —The plantat’on at Waitakaruru was inspected on June 22 by Mr Mitchell, w’ha reports that some of the trees have reached a height of 3ft, and hat the east belt of Lawsonianas, thought to have been killed, h,ad revived and were growing strongly. “Maintnance. — A considerable amount of necessary overhaul has . been done during the period, espe- i' cially on service lines. The main line to Waitakaruru has been overhauled and difficult angies stayed with anchor rods instead of stubs.”
