-•- » I MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Ngatea District Hpgh School Committee held its monthly meeting on Monday evening, Mr W. McDuff presiding over Messrs. C. S. Fostei, R. Cornthwaite, R. Rowlings , W. Wylde, and E. C. Barriball (hon. secretary). DENTAL CLINIC. The secretary reported that the school dental officer, Miss L. O. Ellis, would reopen the Hauraki Plains schools’ dental clinic about the end of the week.- She anticipated being in *- for two months. matter of approaching the people of the other school districts of the Plains for contributions towards the maintenance of the clinic was discussed, and while it was recognised that the cost was not great and that Ngatea had a great henebt in not having to transport its children for treatment, the fact remained that the Nga.tea people had already found about £l5O for the provision and maintenance of the institution. After a long discussion it was: decided to urge the other school com' mittees on the Plains to secure donations. COCOA SERVICE. The headmaster, Mr W. M.A., mentioned in his report that the had arrived to commence dispensing cocoa in the lunch hour. The chairman mentioned that the two doctors who had visited the school that day had recommended that hot cocoa be not supplied) but that plenty . of cold water, be given instead. They recommended 1 raw vegetables instead of biscuits or sweets. On the motion of Mr Foster it was decided to recommence the service. GROUND IMPROVEMENT. The employment of a labourer to effect improvements to the playground was authorised. ' HEATING OF SCHOOL. The ■ necessity of 'some means of heating the detached class-room was brought up by Mr Barriball, and it ■ was decided to ask the Education to supply a coke stove. ’ GRAMOPHONE RECORDS. The Education Board, advised that a subsidy would pot be pkid on money . spent on gramophone records, as the ■maximum subsidy of £5 had already been granted in the supply of the gramophone. On the recommendation of the headmaster it was decided to ask for a refund of the money paid in.
