CRUSHING BATTERY.

ASSISTANCE FOR MINERS. NEED FOR PLANT IN DISTRICT. The immediate need for a public crushing battery for the treatment of orc in this district is just a.s insistent to-day as it was several years- ago. In response to numerous requests the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce has again taken the matter up, and ha.' 5 called a public meeting to beheld in the County Chambers to-morrow night to further the effort to obtain a su'table plant. It is hoped that as a result some proposals will be formulated which will induce the Government to make some facility for orecrushing available. If this can be done a decided fillip will be given the mining industry in this district, as will encourage miners to prospect for gold knowing that they have a reasonable chance of getting stone crushed. It is generally admitted that there is much gold bearing stone to be won. but lack of crushing facilities has hampered operations. It is expected that prominent mining men from Waihi, AVaitekauri, and Karangahake will attend the meeting to-morrow night, and also representatives of local bodies in the district have been asked to be present. For some time proposals have been in hand to induce the Rising Sun Gold -Mining Company at Owharoa to undertake public crushing providing the. Mines Department cqn be prevailed upon to assist in financing the project. It is ujider. stood that directors of this company will attend tomorrow night, and Mr A. M. Samuel, -M.P., has also been, asked to be present and Lenld his assistance to the proposal. Obviously, any advancement made in the mining industry will redound to the prosperity of Paeroa and district, and a cordial invitation to attend the meeting is extended to the public, and especially businessmen,, by the chamber.
