MUNICIPAL BATHS.
WORK NEARLY COMPLETED. REPORT BY COMMITTEE. The following report from the swimming baths committee was approved at last Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa. Borough Council: — “The levelling and cleaning up in the bath and adjoiniing property is about competed. It is estimated that there will be sufficient funds in the loan account to complete this work. “The painting of the woodwork, lighting the bath, and erecting a spring-board is not completed; an 1 ! the cost of this work will be approximately £45. Funds i,n the lo;an account are not available. However, the gift of £5O by Mr Parry Edwards towards extra facilities in the bath is still available, and, if donated towards lighting, spring-board, and extra cubicles—the la.tter have already been erected and paid for out of the loan account —there should be sufficient funds to complete the work.” . In moving the adoption of the report Cr. J. W. Silcock, chairman of the committee, said that the funds were down to a lowi ebb,* but there were two donations yet to come to hand. If that money was received and expended judiciously he believed the baths could be completed without asking the ratepayers for further money. In seconding the motion the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) congratulated the committee on its work, and added that the ratepayers had a good job and tlie money authorised had not been exceeded. The council was deeply appreciative of the generous dentation from Mr Parry Edwards, which had made several extras possible.
