NETHERTON HALL.

DEBENTURE-HOLDERS MEET. A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. A representative meeting of deben-ture-holders in the Netherton Halt Association (Inc.) was held in the hall at Netherton on Thursday night last, when Mr R. H. Heappey (president) presided. In extending a welcome to the de-benture-holders the president saM that he was pleased to record the most successful year, the association 'had yet had. He was albp pleased to state that the committee had placed on record its appreciation of the work done by debenture-holders and set, tiers. The receipts had exceeded the amount of the debenture capital. Besides reducing the overdraft, muebneeded improvements: had been effected to the hall. During the coming twelve months the incoming committee should take in. hand the lining of the supper-room, .which was largely used for tournaments. This work would be much appreciated, and would not be beyond the finances of the association. The meeting would be called upon to elect the officers for, the e’nstiing three years. The ecretary read the report and balance-sheet, which showed that the capital of the association stood at £Bl4 Is 2d. The revenue consisted of : Hire' of hall, £lO7 Ils lid'; hire of stall, £2B 12s ; pictures, £54 ; salt of debentures, £1 10s. The expenditure was : Improvements to hall, £l9 17s 6d ; insurances, £7 ,1s 9d ;(interest, £l9 14s 3d ; sundry expenses, £6B 0s 3d. The assets were put dowp as : Land, £56 ; buildirtg, £lOOO ; piano, £75 ; furniture and fittings, £5O; sundry debts, £1 7s 6d. The liabilities as set out were : Debentures; £169, and bank overdraft £199 Is 4d, .which left a surplus of £Bl4 6s 2d.

To Mr Leach the chairman sajd that no depreciation had been written off this year, as it wa® felt that the building was taken in at p, very conservative valuation. He considered that the hall was well worth £l5OO, beside the furniture. A‘ good deal of permanent work had also been done voluißarily by the committee which added to the value and comfort of the building. On the chairman motion, seconded by Mr, P. Harold, the report and bal-ance-sheet, which had been audited by Mr T. D. Rice, waS: passed. OFFICERS. The secretary, -Mr T. Vowles, In calling for nominations for president, intimated that he would not seek r,e" eection. He-had givep five years’ service to the hall, and was sorry that owing to health reasons he could’ not continue. The following were then elected : President, Mr R. H. Heiappey ; vicepresident, Mr P. Harold ; c'ommittee, Messrs F. T. V. Johnson, W. Morrison, J. Morrison, J. Young, C. H. Potter, G. Sarjant, ju-nr., W. Harold, C. J. GiwH>" Ham, W. Richmond ; auditor, Mr T. D. Rice ; secretary, Mr C. Stembridge. A vote of thanks ,a-ndi appreciation of services was accorded to Mr T. D. Rice, the honorary auditor. On, the motion of Mr, D. Leach it was resolved to place on- the records of the association a vote of appreciation of the services- rendered by the retiring secretary, -Mr T. Vowles. This was carried by acclamation. ■A vote of thanks was also accorded the outgoing comm-ittee and the chairman, who, in acknowledgment, said he was sure the committee would take the sf|,me keen interest in the hall that they had done previously. They all looked to improving the surroundings and making the hall, comfortable and attractive. In doing thiis- they were acting in the best interests of the associaion and the comfort of patrons to the hall. A sum of £lO was voted to the sec. retaiy for his past services. In acknowledging the vote Mr Vowles said that he appreciated the vote- of thankte-, and only regretted his inability to continue the- work. It was resolved to pay an honorarium of £l5 for the secretarial duties in future.
