HAURAKI WEST DRAINAGE

TRUSTEES NOMINATED. ELECTION NECESSARY. Nominations for the position of trustees, on the newly constituted Haurakj Plains West Drainage Board closed with the returning officer, Mr, E. L. Walton, on Friday last, and an election will be necessary, as seven men have been nominated for the five positions. Those nominated are: Messrs A. Douglas:, E. Keane, J. Motion, A. H. ■McClean, T. A. .McClean, C. W. Parfitt, ancj. C. H. Waite. All these men are well-known farmers of the district, and Messrs Motion, McClean (2), and Parfitt were members of the com. mittee appointed by the settlers some time ago to negotiate with the Lands Drainage Department and have district constituted a lands drainage district. The election will be held on Wednesday, June 27, and will be oyer the whole of the drainage district.
