WAIKINO RIDING.
MEMBER’S CHANGE OF RESIDENCE
CR. MASON TO RETAIN SEAT.
Owing to the fact that Mr Colin Mason, who has been the Waikino Riding member oh the Ohinemuri County Council for the last two years, has been compelled- to change bis residence from Waikino to Netherton, he deemed that it was in the best interests of the ratepayers whom he represented that, he should resign his seat on, the council in favour of a person who was actually living in the riding. Although still retaining his farm at Waikino, Mr Mason advised the ratepayers that he would not be able to give riding matters the same time and attention as formerly, and in fairness to the ratepayers lie wished to resign. Prior to coming to Paeroa to attend a meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council yesterday Cr. Mason was met by a representative deputation, headed by Mr C. W. Kennedy, Waik’no. On behalf of those present Mr Kennedy requested Or. Mason to earnestly reconsider his decision. He hal done good worlk for the riding, and would still, have a stake and keen interest in riding affairs. It was unanimously desired that he should continue to represent the ratepayers on the council.
I.n reply Cr. Mason thanked the putation for their confidence in. and also Mr Kennedy for‘his kind! remarks. In deference to the wishes of the ratepayers he would consent to carry on until the conclusion of his term in May liext.
