SPEED OF MOTOR CARS.

LIMITS ON HAURAKI PLAINS. AMENDMENTS TO BY-LAWS. A special, meeting of the Hauraki Pla'ns County Council was held on Wednesday for the purpose of amending the by-laws referring to the speed of motor vehicles. The. matter was discussed at a, previous meeting, and- the limits agreed upon were 35 miles an hour in the open country, 20 miles through townships and 15 miles past schools during school hours. Councillors who had previously opposed these limits made a fruitless attempt to have the limits reduced. The by-laws we r e adopted, and will come into force on a date to be fixed when they are confirmed at the next meeting of the council.
