PAEROA HIGH SCHOOL.
MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING.
GENERAL BUSINESS.
The monthly meeting of the Paeroa District High School, committee was held op Saturday night, the chairman (Mr J. C. H. McDonald) presiding over Messrs. C. T. Mettam, W. JPower, W. N. Chamberlain, C. Holes, R. W. Lowry, a.nd the secretary (Mr W. L. Lawrence). CONVEYANCE OF CHILDREN.
A letter was received from the Education Board, Auckland, advising that a report had been received from the advisory inspector, following on the committee’s representations with reference to the conveyance of children from the Netherton-Awaiti-Puke districts to the Paeroa, school. The inspector had stated that of the twenty names submitted, five were over ten years of age, and lived within three miles of, the nearest school. The committee was .asked to submit to the board tenders for the conveyance. of the eligible pupils. The tenders to be quoted at per s,chodl day, and might be made alternatively for one or two years, respectively. It was resolved that a sub-com-mittes, comprising the cjiairman, Mr, Mettam, the headmaster, and the secretary, be appointed to; finalise ari angemc.nls. ATTENTION TO GROUNDS'On behajf of the visiting committee Mr Mettam reported; That a new picket was, required for the garden gate; that the drain connecting .with the outfall, near the, drilllshed, required cleaning; that a small drain, was required at the foot of the hill in the boys’ playground; that the drains surounding the lower playground required cleaning ; and that the main gate in Nahum Street required attention. He also reported that the .large louvre at the dental cljnic had been covered' in with a shutter and now required painting. The report was adopted, and. the matters mentioned were referred to tlie secretary, with power to act, the. work to be done to the satisfaction otf tha headmaster. , FINANCE FOR CLINIC.
The chairman pointed out that the dental clinic funds were getting low, and ways. ,apd means of providing money for maiuteuance purposes woulcl hqye to be faced in. the near future.
• The question of. holding a school concert was suggested, but the matter was deferred for discussiojn at the June meeting. It was resolved to write to the 'Hikutaia and Karangahake school committees. and ask for donafions towards tliQ clinic funds. ANNUAL AUDIT. The secretary reported that he had received the books' from the board, whence they had been sent for annual audit. Everything w£s in' order, .and there were, no “ tags ’’ or comments. The bala,nc&-sheet was read and adopted On the motion of Mr Power, seconded by Mr Mettam. ACCOUNTS'. Accounts amounting to £33 18s 4d on the school fund and £2 8s 7d on the deintal clinic fupd were passed for payment.
