DISTRICT NEWS.
TURUA. BAND REFORMED. Tlie Turua. brass band, after being dormant for over a year, was reorganised at a, meeting last Thursday evening, and in future will, be known as the, Tinha Town Band. At present there are 13 instruments available, but a,t least 20 are required, and. an appeal is being made for funds. It is hoped to enrol a dozen or twenty boys between the ages of. 12 anil 16 years.
My Christie-, who lias had over 30 years’ experience as a. band-master, lias offered his services a:; instructor for the boys, and it is hoped to have pra.cticejs. weekly
In future the band will be under! tlie control of the following committee : Messrs. F. Loader chairman), WTaylor. Geo. Gray. S. S'. Murray. T. White. A. Corringliam. J. Hamilton, F. Stephensii, and J. A. Bennett (Secretary). A meeting will l;e 'held to-morrow evening to arrange further, details of organisation.
