While the Prime .Minister was motoring back to Thames, after the opening of the Hauraki Bridge on Friday last in a handsome new car, the price, of which possibly rani into four figures, the ear of a Plains settler wa.s noticed to be leading the procession. It wap m’nus a hood, the paint had.long since gone, andi the sea.ts were covered with cow covers. Cheered on by the Premier, it led the procession for a long distance, but finally the traffic compelled it to pull aside, and the official car took the lead, the, Prime Minister leaning out of. the window to wave farewell.
