ABOUT SCALDS.
SOME USEFUL INFORMATION; Some years ago the writer went,to sleep in front of an open fireplace. There was a kettle of, boiling water on the bars and this was kicked over by some movement of the feet, the contents of thei kettle going over both feet. Needlesfs to say, the pain was frightful. The woofllen sox were immediately pulled off and the feet up as far as the scalding placed in a milk dls'h of flour, which was. occasionally stirred without uncovering the wounds. This went on for quite an hour and a half, until the pain had ln the morning. there were no jib-effects, and boots and sox could be put on as usual.
A few evenings ago a child of two upset a saucepan of boiling soup over his feet and: lower part of the leg?. The same treatment was applied immediately, and within an hour, the sobs died h wa >'- The child afterwards had its tea, and was not heard: agaiih until the usual waking time. There were certainly a. few red blotches, but no peeling off, no inflammation, no pain.
This is written without ally prejudice. of the rightful procedure of calling in a doctor, but could be done imi mediately and kept going until he arrived'. A medical opinion should be obtained as to whether this treatment is right should the skin be broken.
