ANZAC DAY.

ARRANGEMENTS FDR WEDNESDAY

PUBLIC SERVICE' AT DOMAIN

The thirteenth anniversary of the landing of the Australian and New Zealand forces on Gaba Tepe, Dardanelles, is to be observed at Paeroa, in common with the rest of the British Empire, on Wednesday next, Anzac Day. The day will be a, close holiday, and special services are to be held in the churches.

A citizens’ public commemoration service will be held at the band rotunda at the local domain on lines similar to that of last year. A muster of returned soldiers, territorials, senior cadets, boy scouts, fire brigade, gird guides, and brownies will parade under their respective officers at -the Paeroa District High School at 2 p-m. At 2.15 the official party, comprising the, Mayor (Mr W. Marshall), members of the Borough Council, chairman (Mr. H. M. Corbett) .and members of the Ohinemuri County council, and other prominent citizens, will arrive at the school and place an official wreath at the, foot of the school Rc<ll of Honour. That ceremony completed, the procession will move off at 2.20 p.m., and, led by the Salvation Army Band, will march via Victoria Street, Normanby Road, and Mackay Street to the domain band rotunda, wheje the commemorationl service will be held, commencing at 2.45 p.m. In. the event of the weather being wet, arrangements have been made to ■hold the service at the Gaiety Theatre, Wharf Street.

The Mayor extends an invitation to returned soldiers and citizens to take part in the proceedings and assist to make the memorable anniversary one of reverence and remembrance.
