INDUCTION OF MINISTER.

REV. ALEXANDER, OF PLAINS. WELCOME BY PEOPLE. A very warm welcome was extended to the new Methodist minister for Hauraki Plains, the Rev. Eric R. Alexander, by the people of the district at a service of induction in the Ngatea. Church last evejning. The service was conducted by the Rev. Burley, of Thames, and.’ the Rev. Pickering, of Paeroa. Tlie new minister was introduced by , the circuit stc,wards, Messrs J. P. Gamble and W. A. Harrington,’ of Paeroa, and after ire had taken, his vows tlie congregation signified their willingness to receive and honour him. Words of -counsel to his new colleague were, given by the superintendent of the. circuit, the Rc,v. W. B. Pickering, and then the Rev. Burley addressed the congregation urging them to .have confidence in and. cooperate with their new minister. The Rev. Alexander briefly thanked the Rev. Burley for his Wellcome, the Rev. Pickering for his advice-, and the people for their warm welcome. Mr J. P. Gamble also addressed the congregation, urging them to pull together with their new .minister and assist him to their utmost.

The service being closed, Mr W. Chappell extended a welcome on behalf of the people of all dtenomina." tions in Ngatea to the Rev. Alexander; and the Rev. Nicholls, Presbyterian miirster, assured him of his co-.opera-tion and the. assistance of his people. Welcomes were also extended, by Mr G. A. Zeigler on behalf of the people of Turiia. and by Mr E. Cocks, superintendent of the Ngatea Interdenominational Sunday School. Replying. the Rev. Alexander thanked the. speakers for their warm welcome, ands aid that he felt, quite at home among them an|d that very good work would be accomplished throughout the d'strict; A vote of thanks to the ladies for the supper supplied brought the gathering to a close.
