MISS I. M. TAYLOR HONOURED.

SERVICES TO LODGE RECOGNISED.

A complimentary social evening was tendered to Sister I. M. Tayior by the members of the Loyal Jubilee Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., at the Centenary Hall, Paeroa, last evening. In addition to a large number of local lodge members and friends, visitors were present from Netherton and Kcrepec'rii.

The; evening passed all too quickly with games and competit’ons, interspersed with musical 1 items, those contributing to the harmony of the evening being Miss M. Bertelsen, Mrs Adam, Mrs Scudamore. Mrs C. H. Townshend, Miss D. Adam, and Messrs J. Welsh and J. M. Fox. Mesdames Scudamore and W. P. Pejnnell and Miss C. Taylor acted as accompanists. A delicious supper was served by the sisters of the lodge, after which Sister E. E. Freeman, N.G., accompanied by the lodge officers, made, a presentation to Sister Taylor, who has bee ( n financial secretary to. the lodge; during the past two years, and who resigned her position on account of her approaching marriage. Sister Freeman referred eulogistically to the splendid work performed by their guest as secretary, and pointed out that by heir unfailing courtesy and sound knowledge of Oddfellowship matters she had won the esteem and love of the members, and her zeal' and enthusiasm had been a big factor in placing the lodge in thei sound position it now enjoyed. Reference was made to the fact that their departing secretary had earned the distinction of being the first sister to represent a lodge at an annual conference of Oddfellows at Auckland. She was also one of the first sisters in the province to hold the office of financial secretary.

In asking Sister Taylor to accept a handsome set of fish knives and forks as a slight token of the esteem in which she was held, Sister Freeman extended to her the members’ very best wishes for every good health, and prosperity during her married life, and expressed the hope that on some future occasion she would again visit the lodge. Cheers and the .singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” followed. In rising to respond the recipient was greeted with prolonged applause. Sister Tayllor expressed her sincere thanks to the members for their handsome gift, which she said she would always value highly. Her work for the lodge had been a pleasure, ahd had been made easy on. account of the loyal support and co-operation she had always received from the officers. Although she would be leaving Paeroa, she would continue to take a keen interest in the affairs and progress of the lodge, and looked forward with pleasurable anticipation to visiting it on some future occasion.
