PAEKOA EASTER GAMES. MATCHES WITH AUCdLAND TEAMS On Good Friday a Paerpa combined team played a match against Mr P. C. Furley’s Auckland touring eleven at the local domain. The game, which commenced at 12-30 p.m., ended in a win for the visitors, by 175 runs. For the local team G. Sale 37 and H. Wright 35 were the principal contributors to Paeroa’s total of 135 runs. The Auckland captain, C.'F. W. Adcott, was the principal contributor tQ the visitors’ total of 310, with Hart 48 and Bush 47 the next highest score,rsCOMBINED TEAM V. PONSONBY. On Saturday an all-flay match was played at the local domain between a Paeroa and Waihi combined team and a Ponsonby senior eleven. Th© local team batted first and the innings produced 181 runs, H. Wright 43 and J. Verran 25 being the chief contributors. The visitors replied with 128, of which H. Roy . (41) and N. Landrum were the chief scorers. In the second innings the combined team was dismissed for 55 runs, while Ponsonby made 15 for, the loss, of three wickqts, The local team thus won by 93 runs on the first innings. VISIT OF PUKEKOHE TEAM. HOME TEAM DEFEATED. On Easter Monday the Pukekohe cricket team visited Ngatea and a match was played against a Plains elevem The visitors made 137 runs and the home, team 116, of which A. J. McDonald accounted for 40, T. McKay 15, W. O’Neil 12, B. Nolan 10, and F. Nicol 11. Bowling for Plains, W. O’Neil took two wickets for 16 runs, A. J. McDonald two for 33. A. Kennyone for 24, and B. Nolan! two for 60'. For Pukekohe G. Lowry knocked up 36 and then retired, Griffin made 29, and S. Cartwright 29. Seven bowlers were used, the best being Hickling, who took four wickets for 33 runs. PAPATOETOE VISITS' KOPUARAHI. WIN FOR THE VISITORS. On Friday last the Papatoetoe cricket team , visited Kopuarahi and played a one-innings match against the local team, which was strengthened by the inclusion, of. two Kaihere players. The visitors were victorious by four wickets and 44 runs. The surprise of the match was the splendid stand made by the two Kopuarahi boys. C. Lawrence, and L. Candy, woo made 26 and 35 not out, respectively. The only other double-figure scores were made by- A- J. McDonald (52), T. McKay (20), and R Connors (13).
The wickets taken .were : R. Connors, 1 for 26 ; L. Candy, 2 for 39 ; A. J. McDonald, 3 for 41.
