MATCH AGAINST HIKUTAIA. WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM. The last of tlie series of matches arranged by th.e Thames Valley Lawn Tennis Association was held in Paeroa on Saturday, when the local players defeated the Hikutaia team. Following are the scores, the visiting players being mentioned first in each case :—
Men’s Singles.—G. Gibb lost to G. McMillan, 5 —9 ; Rgjre and H. T.horp, unflnishal; C. Gibb lost to Simpson, 3—9 ; Turner beat F. Thorp, 9—l ; Alley lost to Masters, 7 —9. Ladies’ Singles.—Miss Gibb lost to Miss Shand, 4 —7 ; Miss G. Gibb lost to Miss Ellis, 4—7. Men’s Doubles. —G. Gibb and Rare lost to McMillan and H. Thorp, 6 —9 ; C. Gibb and Turner /lost to Simpson and F. Thorp, 4. —9. Ladies’ Doubles. —Misses Gibb lost to Misses Shand) and O’Grady, 2—7 ; Misses Elliott and Alley lost to Miss Ejlis anl Mrs Bray, 5 —7. Mixed Doubles, —Alley and Miss Brown lost to Masters and Mrs Bray, 6—7 ; Turner and Miss Elliott lost to F. Thorp and Miss O’Grjady, 2—7.
Totals : Hikutaia, 1 sett or '57 games ; Paeroa, 11 sets or 88 games.
