AMERICA LEADS NEW ZEALAND NEXT. The great increase in the sale of motor-cars in New Zealand and Australia last year has placed the Dominion and the Commonwealth second and third, respectively, to the United States, in proportion of motorcars to population. United States has one to every 5.1 persons. New Zealand one to 10.7, and Australia, one to 13.4 1 persons.

Ruring 1927 the most 'rapid rate of increase was in South Africa, where the operation of automobiles increjased by 27 per cent. Great Britain increased 25 per cent., Australia and New Zealand, which are grouped in the statistics, were third, with an increase of 22 per cent. Thej increase in the United States was only 5-'5 per cent, or less than half the gain, of the previous year. The “saturation” po’nt has now been readied in the United Stateis, which has 22,400,000 of the 29.600,000 motor vehicles in use in the world.
