THE EAST CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. About 30 members attended the annual meeting of the East Football

Club which was held, in Mr Monk’s

Rooms. The chair was occupied by Tr J. Pinder. Before the business of the evening Started a two minutes’ silence was observed a? a tribute to ,three club members who had died during the past ypar, namely, Eric Robson, A. D. McGuire, and! R. Hodson. The annual report set out that the

junior' team was again successful in . annexing the Junior Grade Charnel pionship. It was pleasing to note ■ that a good portion of the East players were selected to district" representative teams, and two players were included in the. Thames Valley team, The club’s best thanks were, due to Mrs Neil and MII7S Pennell for their untiring work with the socials., held by the club. Thanks was 'also expressed to the junior selector, Mr Robinson, and to donors of medals. The report and the balance-sheet, which showed a small credit bailan.ee, were adopted on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr E. Moore.

The Waitakaruru Rugby Football Club lieid its annual general meeting in the Public Hall on Monday evening, Mr A. H. McClean presiding over an attendance of sixteen players and sup>- ( '/ THE PAST SEASON. Reporting on the past season’s operations, the president said that on. the whole it had been very succeslsful. Players iiad been very enthusiastic, and had played tbe game, for the game’s sake. Last season the club ' had no ground of its o.wn, but this year the Domain. Board would have, at least one grounl in good order. During the year the club had lost a very staunch supporter in the person. of Mr R. T. Williams, who had ever been able to render assistance. It was regrettable .that though the club had a large membership, the cash-book showed that only 15 players

had paid their 5s membership sub-

scriptions.. In future the rule prbunfinancial members from Yplaying or from securing a clearance '"would have to be enforced. In other respects the financial position of the club w&s satisfactoii-y. . The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £1.3 19s 7d, as compared with £9. 15s 3d at beginning of the season. The subscription fee was fixed at ss. PLAYING FIELD. It was reported that only one. playc ing field would be prepared on the domain this season. Several possible sites were suggested, and the committee was authorised to make' an inspection.

THE NGATEA CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. TlafcyNgatea Rugby FLotball Club held hs annual general meeting last evening, Mr H-. Lent presiding ’over an attendance of 26 players and supporter*; ' ' REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The annual report stated that the past season had been fairly successful. The financial position was not favourable as in previous, years. ' The balance-sheet showed a profit on the year’s operations of £1 6s Id, the balance to be carried forward being £36 Os 2d. Gate receipts amounted to £l3 5s 6d, subscriptions to £5 Je. 2s, donations £lO 6s 6d, and dances w? £lO 17s 6<J. Transportation cost £l3 12s 6d and refreshments £7 9s sd. ■ The report and balance-sheet were

adopted without discussion.

OFFICERS.

The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr W. G. Hayward ; presiddent, Mr H. Dent; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. S. Foster and T. A. McClean ; secretary, Mr C. Bertelsen; selectors, Sen’ors. Mr C. Bertdlsen, juniors Mr. E. C. Barriball; delegates to Union, Messrs. H. Dent and C. S. Foster; additional delegates to annual meeting, Messrs E. A. Mahoney and E. C. Barriball; general committee, Messrs A. Killgour, H. Sparrow, P. Leonard, H. Kirkman, and J. McPherson ; timekeeper, Mr H. Dent; first-aid attendant, Mr H. Sparrow. GENERAL. Mr W. G. Hayward was made a life member of the club in token of appro,ciat’on of his generosity in granting the club the use of his ground as a playing field over a. long period of years. Votes of thanks were accorded the outgoing officers, special mention being made of the services of Mr A. A. Ludlow as first-aid attendant. The membership fee was fixed at 5s for seniors, 3s for juniors, and non-playing members 5,5. In I’miting the number of vicepresidents to two the cilub desired!, to make the position an honour and not debase it as a money-making proposition. Season tickets will be issued to all who make donations to the funds of the elub. It wa|s decided to instruct the delegates to urge the continuation of the Union’s insurance scheme. A vote of appreciation was accorded Mr R. McPherson, a prominent player who is leaving the district shortly.
