SCHOOL COMPETITION MATCH. PAEROA DEFEATS KARANGAHAKE
A Malcolm Shield match, was played at Paei o.a on Saturday between the Karangahake and Paeroa primary school ; Paeroa, winning the toss, put Karangahake in to bat, and at the conclusion of the play the Paeroa team Iliad won by ten wickets and four runs. The ground was very wet with the rain that Iliad fallen. Karangahake made 68 runs. Manders, batted well for 17, and looked like making a big score until Arnold beat him with a good-length ball Smith 13, Bunting 11, and Dare not out 12 batted well. It Wap. a good fight between five or six Karangahake batsmen and Arn’old. who took seven wickets for 23 runs. Then Baijdsley went on and took the last two wickets for no runs. Edwards’ wicketkeeping was good, and Shand is a valuable boyin the slips. Karangahake’s innings lasted one hour and 20 minutes. Paefca batted for one hour, making 72 with the loss of no wickets—Curtis 30 not out and Edwards 32 not out, extras 10. Both boys gave a good display-, only one chance being given by Edwards.
