CONVENT SCHOOL PICNIC

DAY AT WALHiI BEACH. ENJOYABLE TIME SPENT. This year the children attending St. Joseph’s Convent School, Paeroa, were taken for their annual school! picnic to Waihi Beach. On. Tuesday a party of over TOO pupils, parents, and friends, journeyed to Waihi by motor vehicles and a thoroughly enjoyable day was spent in bathing and organised games.

During the afternoon a sports meeting was held on the beech, the results being asfollows: 120yds, senior boys, T. Charlesworth 1, J. Davis 2 ; 100yds, senior girls, K. EHis 1, K, Roach 2 ; married men’s race, 150yds, w. P. Pennell 1, T. Brown 2 100yds, junior boys, T. Cotter 1, H. Charlesworth 2; 50yds, junior girls, I. Cotter 1, M. NeiJ 2 ; 100yds, senior girls, D. Ryall 1, L. Sherriff 2 ; 50yds, junior boys, T. Cotter 1, C. West 2 ; wheelbarrow race, J. Ryall and Pat Hart 1; 70yds, senior girls, L. Sherriff 1, n. Fitzgerald 2.

At the conclusion of the day’s fun Master Karl Nielsen, on behalf of the pupils, warmly thanked the Rev. Father Taylor for the enjoyable time lie had given everyone, and assured him that it was one of the finest pic- ’ nics the school .had yet had. Cheers were then called ;and lustily given tor Father Taylor and the teachers. V
