TURUA TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING.

STREETS IMPROVEMENTS.

The Turua Town Board met on Wednesday evening, Mr J. Mules presiding over Messrs. J. T. Davies, C. Scott, S. G. Williams, J. H. Johnston, and. the clerk, Mr J. E. Green.

I. was decided to continue the reeohstruction of Oparia Road for a further 12 chains at the northern, adding about four inches of metal. The rest of the road will be, patched, where required. The work vriilll cost about £5O, of which £25 jhas been voted by the County Council in consideration of the fact that the road serves as. an outlet for farms outside the town area. Further lengths of the Hauraki Road watertabl.es are to be graded back, and the footpaths in Hauraki Road and Waiho.u street are to be top-dressed with shingle.

“He’s a good ’usband, Sir, mostly, but ’e’s like a bear with a sbre ’ed when ’e don’t get ’is pipe, and it don't always run to it,” a poorly-dressed woman told the magistrate at an East End of London Police Court when giving evidence .against her husband for assault. The magistrate smiled sympathetically. He evidently knew from personal experience the soothing and tranquilising effects of the weed. But there are tobaccos and tobaccos.. Some brands rae just rank with nicotine and cannot be indulged in constantly with impunity. About the safest tobaccos o**i the market are those grown and manufactured in New Zealand. They are all toasted, and .-ontain so little nicotine that there is no fear of developing “Smoker’s Heart,” a distressing malady, or nerve trouble. These tobscc<s appeal to all smokers, and the more oyu smoke them the better you like them. That’s why they are meeting with such a large saie. Ask any tobacconist for Riverhead Gold, mild; Navy Cut (Bulldog), medium ; or Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), full strength.*
