HERD TESTING.

ILWRAKI PLAINS GROUPS. RETURNS FOR JANUARY. The following returns from the Hauraki Plains groups for the month of January have been supplied by the N.Z. Co-operative Herd Testing Association, Hamilton: — Netherton Group.— The highest herd, with' 56 cows averaged 34.271 b fat; the lowest herd, with 45 cows, averaged: 22.381 b fat. The highest cow in the group produced 76.951 b fat, and the lowest cow 3.251 b. Ngatea Group.—The higlies'- herd, with 66 cows, averaged 33.671 b of fat; the lowest herd, with 52 cows, averaged 24.661 b. The highest cow in the group produced' 66.151 b of fat, and the lowest c«w 5.671 b.

Patetonga Group.— The highest herd,-with 38 cows,, averaged 37.121 b. fat; the lowest herd, with 36 cows, averaged 17.67 lb. fat; the highest cow produced 68.371b5., and the lowest cow 3.601b5.

Shelly Beach. —The highest herd, with 30 cows, averaged 33.641b5. fat; the lowest herd, with 92 cows, averaged 24.57b5. The highest cow produced 5G.581b5., and the lowest cow 6.211b5.

Turua. —The highest 'herd, .with 24 cows, averaged 37.991bs fat ;’the. lowest herd, with 39 cows, averaged 24.351bs- The highest cow produced 57.33 lbs., and the lowest cow 6.00 lbs.’ Waitakaruru. —The highest herd, with 20 cows, averaged 35.941b5. fat; the lowest herd, with 45 cows, averaged 24.511b5. The highest cow, produced -36.151b5, and the lowest cow 7.77 lbs.

The average for 68,280 cows tested in January was 632 lbs. milk a 4 2 te»t, and 26.71 lbs. fat. ' ’ '

All the foregoing records, are for a full th irty-day period, and this season represents the productwn of alt cows in milk.
