lOrice again there was a scene of excitement and unalloyed pleasure at the local, bowling green la&t night, when the club held another mixed rink night-play competition. There can be little doubt that the ladies enjoy themselves, as evidenced by the number present last night. Every rink was filled by 8 p.m., and although there is accommodation for 64 players there was not irobni for all who wished to play, and a number of would-be competitors had to join the spectators on the bank. A feature of the play was the decided improvement some of the ladies have made in the game, and the way they have acquired many of the terms which are peculiar to the game.
The competition comprises 15 heads, and at the conichfejon it was found that a rink skipped by J. P. Monk and one skipped by J. J. Goonan had each 'scored 18 points. After a brief consultation the committee awarded the prizes to Monk’s rink, which had gained a victory by 9 points, whereas Goonan’s rink had won by five points only. In a happy speech the president (Mr C. T. Mettam) presented the prixes, after which the ladies (served supper.
