ANNUAL PICNICS.
METHODISTS TRAVEL TO KOMA.TA.
DRUIDS GATHER AT DOMAIN.
Perfect weather prevailed on Saturday for the holding of the. Methodist Church and .Sunday School annual picnic. Leaving from the Centenary Hull at about 9 o’clock, the large party was conveyed in motor vehicles to Mr R. HubbardI’s 1 ’s property at Koniata:_. The site selected was an ideal one, and a happy day was spent in games, competitions, and swimming. The party returned to Paeroa in the cool 'of, the evening thoroughly pleased with the day’s outing, THE DRUIDS’ PICNIC. In former years it it was the practice of the members of t?he Star of Paeroa Druids Lodge to have a Christmas tree for the children, but .this year a new departure was made and a sports gathering was held at the domain and it proved an. unqualified success and augured wfell for future gatherings. In addition to afternoon tea, which was serVed from a marquee erected for the purpose, there were lolly scrambles, games., and fun for all. Following are the results of some of the races, held :—
Girls Three years anil under: Dawn Broyd 1, Belle Nicholls 2, Welch 3 ; five years, Betty Broyd 1, Ivy Paul 2. Boys, Tour years and under .‘ Leslie Griffiths 1, Joe Kurtovieh 2. 100yds, boys 14 to .16 years : J. Pascoe 1, J. Campbell 2. 75yds, boys 7to 9 years : J. Campbell 1, B. King 2, N. Rackham 3. 270yds relay race, boys and girls: Mira Matkovich and J. Pascoe 1, Annie Goonan and R. King 2. cycle race: L. Goldsworthy 1, R. A. Shephard 2. 50yds, girls 5 and 6 years, Jessie King 1, Hazel Tomich 2, Margery Young 3. Girls’ three-legged! race, 16 years: K. Kenny and A. Goonan 1, G. Marsh and M. Shephard 2. Boys’ race, 5 to 6 50yds: Mat. Kurtovieh 1, J. Hale 2. Gils, 7 to 9 years, 75yds: J. King, J. Shephard 2, J. Callagher 3. Egg and spoon race : Marie Matkovich 1, G. Tressider 2. Cigarette race, men to run lOOydts and ladies to light a cigarette : H. Wilton and Mrs Matkovich 1, E. Smith and Miss Tomieli 2. Married women’s race : Mrs E. Wood 1, Mrs A. Hogg 2. Single Women’s race: Dulcie Bourne 1, E. McKee 2. Treacle bun race : Boys, Jack Pascoe'l, W.fcing 2 ; girls, E. McKee .1, J. Kenny 2. Ladles’ obstacle race, blindfolded : Miss Q. Davidson .1, Miss E. McKee 2. The ob> stacks were removed after the competitors were blindfolded, and it was very amusing to see them walking over chairs, jumping forms, and creeping under a tarpaulin which existed only in their imagination.
