BOROUGH EXPENDITURE.
SUBSCRIPTION LIST OPENED.
SEVERAL DONATIONS RECEIVED-
In view of the fact that it has been suggested by a contributor in these columns that an account should be opened and the public given an opportunity to contribute towards the s,um of £l5 18s 9d which was overdrawn by the council and tagged by the Audit Office, the’ town clerk has opened a subscription list at the Municipal Chambers. It has been felt that the money, which was expended in entertaining the Governor-General on his first visit to Parba, and also in connection with the opening of the new post office, should not be refunded to the district fund account .wholly by the Mayor and councillors. Since the list was opened by the townl clerk on Friday afternoon the following have been received : — One who enjoyed the Council’s hospitality, 10s; one who picked the chicken’s bones, 2s 6d ; C.
